The University of Florida School of Architecture seeks applications for one (1) Lecturer to teach and work at the University of Florida School of Architecture’s main campus in Gainesville, Florida. This lecturer position is a full-time, tenure ineligible, nine-month teaching position. Teaching assignments will include design studio instruction and support courses. The School of Architecture embraces shared governance and all faculty are expected to contribute to governance within the School, and advancing the academic mission of the School of Architecture. Scholarship in the areas of Urban Resiliency and Community Design is expected as approximately 10% of effort. The School of Architecture at the University of Florida invites applications for one (1) Lecturer position within the School of Architecture at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. A candidate for this position shall demonstrate distinction in academic and/or non-academic achievement pertinent to the position, have professional experience relevant to the practice of architecture, and show evidence of academic experience sufficient to deliver courses within both the undergraduate and graduate curriculums. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching basic and advanced architectural design, and complementary technical and theoretical support courses. S/He is expected to continue professional engagement in their area of research or practice, maintain their professional credentials, and contribute to research, teaching and service within and outside the University.
This Lecturer position is a full-time, tenure ineligible, nine-month appointment, located in Gainesville, Florida. Common teaching assignments will include a design studio and 1-2 support course (or equivalent academic load of 9-12 credit hours per semester). Additionally, lecturers may be asked to serve on thesis and research project committees, as well as contribute to the governance of the School of Architecture. These additional contributions may include participating fully in its academic mission, and actively collaborate with colleagues by participating in regular faculty, committee and academic planning meetings, serving as jurors for studio reviews, and attending School of Architecture special events. The anticipated start date is August 2018 or January of 2019.
Position Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in architecture from a NAAB-accredited institution or other internationally recognized accrediting body
Teaching experience including undergraduate and/or graduate level design studios.
Professional experience in the practice of architecture
Evidence of student-centered approach to teaching and learning
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with design studio teaching process at the UF School of Architecture.
Familiarity with curriculum development
Active architectural license (Florida registration preferred)
Membership in the American Institute of Architects (AIA)
The work location is in Gainesville, Florida.
