NOTICE OF FACULTY VACANCY
Music Education (General Music Emphasis)
POSITION: Full-time appointment in Music Education
RANK/SALARY: Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure track appointment in the Department of Music Education and Therapy. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate courses in general music education (elementary and secondary); teach and/or develop graduate courses related to the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs; teach and supervise research at the graduate level; maintain a visible profile as a researcher, scholar and presenter; develop and maintain connections with area music educators and prospective students; demonstrate a commitment to community engagement; provide appropriate service to the College and University; advise undergraduate and/or graduate students.
QUALIFICATIONS: A completed doctorate in music education is required; a minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience in PreK-12 settings; certification and/or proficiency in the methodologies of Dalcroze, Kodály, Gordon Music Learning Theory and/or Orff is preferred; a specialization in one of the following will be considered: rock band, world music, technology, introduction to music education, teaching students with special needs, or urban music education. Candidate must be an accomplished university-level teacher and researcher with an established publication and presentation record.
