The University of Waikato Joint Institute at Zhejiang University City College, China
The University of Waikato has established a Joint Institute with Zhejiang University City College in Hangzhou, China. Students have the opportunity to graduate with one of three degrees offered there by the University of Waikato.
The position is based in China and contributes to the teaching and administrative requirements of the Bachelor of Media and Creative Technologies taught at the Joint Institute by our Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
To be successful in the role you will have demonstrated experience teaching to large and small groups of students and in-depth knowledge of film production theory and practice and methods of analysis. Knowledge of Asian (particularly Chinese) and Western film and art practices is required together with practical experience of still and moving image production, sound design and mixing. Knowledge of Chinese culture, experience of teaching across cultures and the ability to work with students for whom English is not their first language are all important requirements. A relevant Masters degree is essential and a PhD would be preferred.
Salary will be in the range of NZ$70,000 to $100,000 per year (paid in Chinese RMB), dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
Annual travel to New Zealand, visa and insurance expenses and accommodation in China are provided.
The appointment will start in January 2019 to include onboarding and programme preparation at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand before teaching at the Joint Institute starts in March 2019.
