The Department of Media Study at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Game Studies (non-tenure-track). We seek artist/scholar candidates whose background combines an experimental approach to technology and game design with a critical stance toward the impact of games and gaming. The ideal candidate deconstructs, experiments with, and revolutionizes gaming paradigms.

Areas of particular interest include but are not limited to the intersection of games and VR/AR, locative media, performance, social media, physical computing, and narrative forms. Desirable scholarly perspectives include feminism, critical race theory, performance studies, or software studies. The candidate will teach courses in game production and analysis, and related areas of Media Study suitable to their specialization. The selected candidate will teach four courses over the academic year while maintaining an active program of scholarship and/or artistic production in his or her area of expertise.

The Department of Media Study has undergraduate BA programs in media production and in film studies, a Game Studies Certificate program, and graduate programs at the MA, MFA, and PhD levels. More information on the department is here:
