POSITION: The Department of Music at the University of Texas at San Antonio seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor of Music (Tenure-Track) position in the area of Piano Pedagogy to be effective Fall 2019. Primary responsibilities involve oversight of the Master of Music in Pedagogy and Performance degree, teaching courses in the undergraduate and graduate pedagogy curriculum, and coordinating the group piano program for the department. Additional duties may include applied lessons and other keyboard-related courses commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and background.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required qualifications include an earned doctoral degree in piano pedagogy and/or performance, prior experience teaching both pedagogy and class piano at the university level, and professional activity in the field of piano pedagogy. Preferred qualifications include a record of successful teaching in the studio and classroom, experience coordinating curriculum and technology for a group piano program, a record of curriculum development, and potential for student recruitment. ABD candidates will only be considered if they meet the above qualifications, in addition to being awarded their degree prior to position effective date.
