WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY-invites applications for an experienced and collaborative dance artist-educator for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin August 2018. The salary is competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s experience. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will join the faculty of one of the nation’s oldest (est. 1928) and most respected dance programs offering BS and BFA degrees in Dance and an MA in Theatre and Dance Teaching Artistry. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of scholarly and/or creative research activity, excellence in teaching and artistic direction, and the ability to build community and outreach within a diverse urban environment. Teaching responsibilities may include contemporary modern dance, improvisation and choreography, repertory, direction of a student dance company, as well as graduate courses in the MA Teaching Artistry program. Additional courses will be assigned according to the successful candidate’s areas of expertise.

Qualifications: The Department seeks candidates who possess the following minimum qualifications: PhD, EdD or MFA, or commensurate professional experience at the national and/or international level; evidence of successful university teaching for a minimum of three (3) years or in a professional or educational venue; evidence of successful artistic direction experience for a minimum of three (3) years in a professional venue or higher education; evidence of working effectively within a diverse department, student body and campus community.
