Position Description
The Department of Art and the Program in Cinema and Media Arts at Vanderbilt University invite applications for a non-tenure track Andrew W. Mellon Assistant Professor of Digital Art and New Media for a three-year term, to begin August 16, 2018. The ideal candidate will have expertise in contemporary art discourse and familiarity with the histories and current practices of the broader field of new genres. Those could include, but are not limited to: sound, video, animation, coding, interactive media, web-based work, or digital fabrication. We are seeking candidates to teach a variety of courses in digital and new media, which may include beginning and advanced undergraduate courses. Additionally, candidates would be invited to develop new courses in their area of expertise. Knowledge of Adobe CC is desirable.

We are looking for candidates that show potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and have an active exhibition record in their field.  

Qualifications
The Department of Art and the Program in Cinema and Media Arts are committed to building an intellectually vibrant, culturally inclusive, and academically diverse community of exceptional faculty. The teaching load is two courses each semester and salary and benefits are highly competitive. Applicants must have received their MFA or Ph.D. no more than four years prior to the start of the position and must have their degree in hand or expected by August 16, 2018. We will be conducting interviews at CAA in February 2018.

We will ask for three letters of recommendation electronically via Interfolio in phase two of the search process. Applications are due December 31, 2017. 

PORTFOLIO OF CREATIVE WORK:
(PDF – max. size 10MB). Creative work should be uploaded either entirely in PDF form, or via embedded URLs in a PDF. The portfolio can be up to 20 pages, each page containing one work with images, video stills, installation shots, etc. For each work/page, please include name, title, date, duration, size, media and links (when applicable.). For video, sound, moving image, installation or performance documentation, please include links to Vimeo excerpts no longer than 5 minutes in length.
