Assistant | Associate | Full Professor (Multiple Positions)
The College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for full-time continuing and visiting faculty positions-at the assistant, associate or full professor level-in the Department of Architecture. These positions provide an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and diverse environment with students from more than 90 nationalities. CAAD has established a reputation as a leader in design education in the region and graduates have gone on to study at top graduate programs worldwide and have established themselves as key contributors to design and creative industries across the region. AUS offers highly competitive salary and benefits package that includes return airfare at the beginning and end of the period of service, free housing and a generous retirement contribution. The successful candidate is expected to assume duties in August 2019.
Applicants will have demonstrated excellence, or potential for excellence, in teaching, scholarship (which includes creative work and research) and service. Faculty in the Department of Architecture teach in one or more of following areas: architectural design, interior design, digital technology, sustainable environments, urban design, fabrication and beginning design. Faculty are expected to teach design studios at various levels, core curriculum and elective courses, to mentor students through an established advising process, to engage in scholarship, and to participate in service activities for the department, college and university. Applicants who have academic experience with the North-American model of studio-based design education are preferred.
A terminal degree, typically a Master of Architecture (or equivalent) or Master of Interior Design, is required. Licensure and a thorough knowledge of design history, theory and practice are desirable.

CAAD offers five undergraduate programs leading to degrees in architecture, interior design, visual communication, multimedia design and design management, along with the Master of Urban Planning degree. The Bachelor of Architecture program at AUS is fully accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), and is the first program to receive this designation outside North America.
