Position Summary Information
Job Description Marshall University’s School of Theatre invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in August, 15, 2019. This is a Movement/Acting position with a full time, nine-month appointment. The successful candidate will have substantial experience as an acting teacher as well as in teaching a range of movement-based techniques which may include, but are not limited to mask technique, Qualities of Movement (Chekhov), stage combat, musical theatre, Alexander Technique, Viewpoints, Laban, Biomechanics, Lecoq, etc… Candidates given strongest consideration will have evidence of a national reputation in the field or evidence of potential for national recognition as well as an awareness of current and emerging trends in the acting profession. Responsibilities include teaching and advising BFA and BA theatre majors and minors, directing season productions, participating in faculty governance and service to the school, college, and university.
MFA or equivalent terminal degree in acting or performance areas; professional experience; professional affiliation; evidence of successful teaching in a university setting; and evidence of professional creative works.
