The School of Design in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University is excited to invite applications for an Associate Professor with tenure in the field of Industrial and Interaction Design (IID). We are actively seeking an exceptional senior scholar who will bring their expertise and experience to our dynamic academic community. The ideal candidate is a seasoned researcher with a well-established portfolio that has successfully secured external funding. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to building cutting-edge programs and courses both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in mentoring junior faculty and guiding students in their specialized areas of research. Additionally, active engagement in service to the school, college, and university is an integral part of this role.

The School of Design places a significant emphasis on producing forward-thinking design professionals. We take pride in our nationally acclaimed Bachelor of Industrial Design (BID) degree program, which ranks #3 in the nation according to Design Intelligence. Required qualifications: candidates must be outstanding scholars with a national reputation for excellence in research, teaching, and service along with a history of securing external grants. As a member of the University faculty, you will be expected teach graduate and undergraduate courses while advancing a research agenda capable of achieving national and international recognition in the fields of industrial, product, interaction, or user experience design. Candidates holding a doctorate are preferred, though those with other terminal degrees (MFA, MArch) in a relevant field are also encouraged to apply; 5-7 years of teaching experience in a related field, and a background in or commitment to working with diverse student populations and/or in culturally diverse work and educational environments.
