Job Purpose

Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai invites applicants to apply for an Assistant/Associate professor and Program Coordinator position to teach in the New Media Design program while also coordinating program launch and success. We are seeking candidates who are well-rounded designers with expertise in interaction design. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to integrate principles related to areas such as New Media Design, Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, UX, Experience Design, etc. design. Candidates should be qualified to teach throughout the curriculum, including proficiency in applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma. In addition, candidate will engage in administrative tasks related to the launch of the program that include setting up schedules, handling student issues, coordinating with advisors and admissions, leading the continuous improvement cycle, monitoring, and maintaining program quality, representing the program to various constituencies within and outside the university, and handling program budget. Ideal candidates will also bring diverse perspectives and experiences that contribute to a broader understanding of design and how contemporary social and professional environments are shaping our practices and understanding of the field. Expectations include teaching studio and lecture courses; participating in innovative teaching and curriculum development; rendering service to the university, and community; career advising and mentoring students; and participating in professional organizations important to the field of design.

The selected candidate is expected to start on August 26, 2024 in Dubai.

Required Qualifications

• MFA degree in Graphic Design, New Media, Visual Communications, Animation, or equivalent terminal degree.
• Demonstrated experience in any of the following areas of design: typography, graphic design, interactive design, user experience design, and 3D design.
• Administration experience in an education environment
• Teaching Experience.
• Professional Experience.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), Figma.
• Experience with 3D modeling applications.
• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the RIT Dubai’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
