Lecturers in Graphic Information Technology
Location: Arizona State University – Polytechnic Campus

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and The Polytechnic School (TPS) invites applicants for faculty lecturer positions in the Graphic Information Technology program, beginning in the fall 2018 semester. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for teaching face-to-face and online curriculum in one or more of the following focus area: Front-End Web Design and Development; Digital Design, Print and Publishing; 2D/3D Motion Graphics and Animation; and Commercial Photography and Video. This is a non-tenure track appointment with a fixed-term academic year contract. It is anticipated that the contract will be renewed annually subject to satisfactory performance.

The School seeks candidates who have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that incorporates active learning, will share our passion for graphic communications education, and be will effective in a highly collaborative environment. Candidates should possess a strong professional background, preferably with some demonstrated experience related to teaching, training, offering professional development, or curriculum design across a wide spectrum, including front-end website design and development, user experience (UX), print and digital design, motion graphics and 2D/3D animation art, commercial photography, and video production. Other responsibilities include working with student organizations, supervising undergraduate and graduate projects, participating in course and program assessment, and engaging local industry associations affiliated with the program.

The Graphic Information Technology (GIT) program is one of the outstanding programs on the ASU Polytechnic campus. The GIT program educates undergraduate and graduate students to become industry leaders who develop and manage content through numerous communication and distribution modes. Creative and comfortable with complex digital technology, GIT lives primarily in the front-end user universe of content interaction. Through project-based learning, teamwork, and authentic client experiences, graduates are innovative problem solvers prepared for leading roles and entrepreneurship opportunities in the rapidly evolving graphics industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:
 Master’s degree in a related area and an academic background commensurate with teaching courses in one or more of the subject areas listed above
 Experience in industry standard software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud

Desired qualifications:
 Higher education teaching experience
 Experience creating curriculum and teaching courses in an online environment
 Expertise in user-centered design
 Demonstrated record of experience in teaching that incorporates active learning
