The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and The Polytechnic School (TPS) seek applicants for a faculty Teaching Professor (all ranks) or Instructor position in the area of the Graphic Information Technology (GIT) program. The Polytechnic School (TPS), one of the eight Fulton Schools, houses a vibrant engineering teaching community and invites applicants to become a part of a dynamic and growing team that promotes transdisciplinary teaching, enablesstudent success, supports transforming society, values entrepreneurship mindset, and conducts use-inspired research.
The Graphic Information Technology Program is housed on the Polytechnic campus and resides in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. The GIT Program lives at the intersections of creativity, visual design and technology, preparing students to create visual content for multi-channel distribution – print, web, photo, video, and animation. Students receive a foundation in technology and business fundamentals with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation. The program prepares graduates for careers as visual design technologists encompassing front-end Web design and development, printing and digital publishing, commercial photography and videography, and 2D/3D animation game art and animation.
We seek applicants who will contribute to our academic programs, promote transdisciplinary teaching and research, and help the university to achieve its aspirations. Faculty members in the Fulton Schools are expected to contribute to the standards of inclusive excellence in the undergraduate and graduate programs through effective pedagogical practices and instructions, delivery of courses that are on-campus and online, develop curriculum, advise and mentor student projects, and provide service to the program, college, and university. Service is an important component of these positions and demonstrated by the collaboration, cooperation, contribution, team building, leadership, and industry engagement of successful faculty.
Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Focus Area 1: 2D/3D Animation 3D Media Production Visual Narrative in Motion Graphics Computer Animation and Motion Graphics
Focus Area 2: Digital Design; Print, and Publishing Printing Technology Commercial Print Production Color Management Digital Publishing Print Design
Focus Area 3: Commercial Photography and Video Image Editing and Manipulation Commercial Photography Video Production and Editing High Speed Video and Thermal Imaging Immersive Video Production
Focus Area 4: Front-end Web Design and Development Web Content Design Information Design and Usability New Media Internet Technologies Advanced Web Markup and Scripting Multimedia Authoring, Scripting, and Production Website and E-Commerce Strategies
Appointment will be at the Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor rank or the Instructor rank commensurate with the candidate's degree, experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2024. These positions are full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible and renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Qualifications
Required qualifications: Earned Master's or Doctoral degree in Design, Communication, Multimedia or a related discipline by the time of appointment Academic background commensurate with teaching courses in one or more of the subject areas listed above Evidence of excellence in teaching, as appropriate to the candidate's rank
Desired qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to research and teaching Commitment to inclusive research and teaching practices Demonstrated success, appropriate to the candidate's rank, in mentoring, training, supervising, and graduating students for both academic and industrial careers
