Lecturer 10 Months, Half-time (Two Positions)

The Kean Skylands campus, located in Jefferson Township, New Jersey, is designed to serve as an outdoor living laboratory for field-based scientific study and other classroom and field instruction.
We are excited to grow our faculty and invite Lecturer applications for the fall 2024 semester. This is a 10 Month, half-time position. Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty and half-time Lecturers teach 15 credits for the academic year. Teaching assignments may be assigned at any of Kean’s New Jersey locations – Union, Ocean, Princeton, Skylands or Kean Online and may include day, evening and weekend courses. Evening hours are required for teaching graduate course assignments.
Lecturers are required to teach, provide student academic support, provide service to the university and community and perform other related faculty responsibilities. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is also required, consistent with University guidelines. 10 Month Lecturers are responsible for performing their teaching and non-teaching responsibilities for the ten-month period of their appointment.
Michael Graves College, School of Public Architecture
Architecture (Half-time Lecturer – Two Positions) - to teach undergraduate studio and seminar courses within the professional architecture design program. Areas of specialty include building design, urban design, building technology and building systems. Appointees will teach at the Union campus and non-teaching hours will be devoted to advising and providing other support services to students.
Ideal candidates will contribute intellectually to the formation of this new professional program by engaging with faculty across campuses in the development of curriculum; seeking external funding; participating in innovative teaching and curriculum development; and actively engaging in professional organizations.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Architecture or a related field and one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. It is recommended that candidates have a proven record of professional business practice. Professional registration, NCARB certification, AIA membership, LEED AP credentials and both hand and digital representational skills are highly desirable. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree combined with an extraordinary record of professional/creative achievement equivalent to a Master’s degree may also be considered as determined by the University. Adjunct teaching experience may count towards the teaching requirement.
