The Kent State University School of Theatre and Dance seeks an engaging and collaborative musical theatre individual who appreciates and respects a diverse academic environment and who shares our commitment to inclusivity in classrooms and on stage for a 9-month, non-tenure track renewable position in Musical Theatre Dance starting August 19, 2019. The School offers a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, a B.F.A. in Dance Performance, a B.A. in Dance and serves over 1000 non-majors annually. Candidates with strong abilities in musical theatre tap, jazz and ballet would work collaboratively within both the dance and the musical theatre curricula. The Dance faculty comprises six full time and four-five part time members. The School produces eight productions annually. Opportunities exist for employment at Porthouse Theatre, the School’s professional summer theatre.
Responsibilities
Teach musical theatre tap, jazz and ballet to dance and musical theatre majors. Choreograph for faculty dance concerts and/or musical theatre productions. Teach two or more of the following: partnering, jazz styles, professional aspects in musical theatre/commercial dance, and commercial dance. Candidate will share creative advising and student mentorship.
Qualifications
M.F.A. and/or professional equivalent in Musical Theatre Dance. Experience teaching Musical Theatre Dance and choreography at the university or professional level. Additional competencies considered.
