The University of North Carolina School of the Arts invites applications for a Full-time Faculty appointment, as Director of the Stage Management Program in the School of Design and Production, to begin September 2010.
Responsibilities include: teaching classes within the Undergraduate Stage Management Program and the School of Design and Production, mentoring Student Stage Managers throughout the production process, curricular student advising, maintaining the quality of the Program and other tasks, as assigned by the Dean.
The Director of Stage Management serves as a liaison for production with the other 4 Schools in the Arts Conservatory and will serve on a team of 26 working professionals in the School of Design and Production, who are engaged with a dedicated student body in a rigorous training program, comprised of 12 areas of concentration, an expansive production calendar and housed in state of the art facilities.
Required Qualifications:
• Terminal degree in Stage Management or equivalent professional experience.
• History of professional stage management experience in Dance, Drama and/or Opera, as well as other avenues in the entertainment industry.
• Evidence of potential for high quality teaching
• Potential for leadership in the Stage Management Program.
• Teaching philosophy that aligns with the mission of UNCSA and the School of Design and Production.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Membership in Actors Equity Association and/or American Guild of Musical Artists is desired.
• Continued professional activity is not only expected, but encouraged.

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts is the first state-supported, residential school of its kind in the nation. Established as the North Carolina School of the Arts by the N.C. General Assembly in 1963, UNCSA opened in Winston-Salem ("The City of the Arts") in 1965 and became part of the University of North Carolina system in 1972.
