The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music announces a full-time opening for a Vocal Coach & Accompanist

POSITION & APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 9-month position at the rank of Special Faculty beginning on September 1, 2019.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as vocal coach & accompanist for undergraduate and/or graduate voice majors, teach classes in area of expertise, serve as accompanist/coach for all School of Music opera productions, including attending evening rehearsals, coach roles for students for all opera productions, serve as accompanist for juries and auditions, and satisfy all other normal requirements of full-time faculty.


  • A thorough knowledge of traditional and modern opera, art song, oratorio, and concert vocal repertoire
  • Fluency in French, German and Italian
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in professional experience and/or achievement
  • Excellent collaborative skills and willingness to work across disciplines
  • A commitment to diversity
