Job Description:

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Le Moyne College has one job opening for a full-time Professor of Practice position at its Syracuse, New York campus. We are seeking qualified candidates with expertise in Scenic Design for the theatre. The successful candidate will be expected to teach eight courses per academic year, with course-releases granted for scenic and/or lighting designs of departmental productions, and/or supervision of student designers, to be determined in alignment with prevailing department and College policy.  Successful candidates will be highly collaborative and will participate in Theatre program recruiting, student mentoring, and general service to the department of Visual and Performing Arts. Successful candidates will teach courses in Stagecraft, Scenic Design, and other courses within the department or the College, to be determined.

As non-tenure track faculty, the Professor of Practice is offered, when initially hired, a
contract for each of the first three academic years as a Professor of Practice (subject to satisfactory performance, financial exigency, or programmatic changes) and a three-year contract thereafter (subject to satisfactory performance, financial exigency, or
programmatic changes). Appointments are subject to annual evaluation for the first three years with evaluations every three years thereafter. Professors of Practice have the rights of full-time faculty under the Handbook, including the right of academic freedom, due process and the right to a voice in our system of governance.  Preference will be given to applications received by December 1.

Requirements:

MFA and/or professional scenic design experience required, as are excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.  College teaching experience and knowledge and experience in lighting design are preferred.

Salary Range: $53,500 to $56,000
