The University of Virginia Department of Drama invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in scenic design, with a start date in August 2023.

We seek candidates with an established or emerging record of creative and/or published work in any medium of scenic design including stage, site-specific, immersive, interactive, or multimedia performance. We especially welcome candidates with experience designing for performance traditions of the Global South; Asian/Pacific Islander, Latine, Indigenous, Black performance traditions; queer/trans performance practices; performance and disability; and/or theatre for social change. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to serving students and audiences of the global majority, and with practical experience of anti-racist, decolonizing, and/or culturally responsive teaching and performance, are preferred.
