The University of Arizona, School of Theatre, Film & Television seeks an Assistant Professor of Practice with a high level of experience to serve as a vocal instructor in a dynamic professionally-focused Musical Theatre program. This position may assist in furthering our goals of collaboration with the School of Music and other units within the College of Fine Arts. This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide private voice instructor for Acting/Musical Theatre BFA students.
Provide instruction in foundational vocal technique for group vocal technique classes.
Serve as classroom pianist as needed.
Attend auditions and callbacks as needed.
Serve as relief Musical Director and Rehearsal Pianist for Arizona Repertory Theatre productions as needed.
Participate actively in recruitment and promotion of the Division.
Maintain currency in the field.
Proficient musical sight-reading and piano skills.
Master’s degree of Music and/or Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Performance, and professional experience OR a BFA degree in Music and/or a BFA degree in Fine Arts Performance, and 5 years professional experience.
Minimum 3 years teaching voice at the university and/or professional level.
Experience teaching Classical technique, as well as all periods and styles of Musical Theatre repertoire.
