The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Music invites applications for tenure-eligible, open rank full-time appointment as Director of Bands. This appointment will begin August 16, 2022. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications: Emerging or established national reputation as a wind band conductor and pedagogue. Master of Music degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred qualifications: Earned doctoral degree and current rank of Associate or Full Professor. Significant record of accomplishment in wind band conducting at the collegiate and/or professional level. Significant record of experience in teaching wind band conducting and literature. Significant administrative experience that includes financial literacy and program budgeting. Commitment to innovative programming that places new music in dialogue with repertoire of the past and embraces underrepresented composers. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the faculty and the community.

Responsibilities:
Serve as Director of Bands, providing artistic, academic, and administrative leadership of the University of Illinois Band program; conduct School of Music wind bands; direct the graduate program in wind band conducting and advise master and doctoral theses; teach courses including advanced wind band rehearsal techniques and literature; serve on School, College, and University committees as requested; collaborate with School of Music faculty and staff in recruitment; and sustain a program of public engagement with multiple and diverse constituencies.
