The Dance Department at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University-New Brunswick (New Jersey, USA) seeks an individual with a national and international profile whose expertise demonstrates sustained engagement with integrated dance theory and practice. The candidate’s research platform should show evidence of global perspectives towards interdisciplinary scholarship. Opportunities exist for multiple genres of creative practice; technical expertise in dance forms other than ballet and modern/contemporary dance highly desirable. The candidate would extend the strength of current faculty through excellence in teaching, mentoring and supervising undergraduates and graduates across dance/perfor-mance studies within a variety of teaching platforms (face-to-face, hybrid, and online). Areas of expertise would include: history and culture, philosophy and aesthetics, community engagement and social justice, and dance pedagogy prioritizing equity and inclusion, among others. The department seeks candidates who can contribute to diversity and inclusion through a collaborative approach to their teaching, research, and service.

Successful candidates will pursue a substantive national and international research trajectory, including conference presentations and fellowship funding, among other activities. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the BFA and MFA programs, with an emphasis on dance studies courses. Candidates will mentor, review, and assess MFA thesis projects; teach studio courses in their area of dance practice; develop new courses; and participate in shared governance through committee service, and Dance Department project initiatives as required.

Recognized as the leading higher education dance program in the state of New Jersey, the Dance Department is located within easy access of New York City. Facilities include 6 dance studios, 225-seat studio theater, and a shared 350-seat proscenium theater.
