The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Christian Brothers University invites applications for a tenure-track (rank open) position as a Professor of Art, specializing in Graphic Design. We seek a candidate who can contribute to all areas of the department. The successful candidate will be able to develop and teach undergraduate, upper-level courses in graphic design and digital media in a variety of delivery modes. The faculty member will be expected to contribute broadly to the Visual and Performing Arts department by teaching foundation courses, upper-level graphic design courses, and advising BFA majors. Our department has recently experienced rapid growth in the number of graphic design concentration students, and so we seek a candidate who can enhance the marketability of our senior graphic design students by preparing them to be competitive in an increasingly diverse job market.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Teach full course load.
-Develop and teach undergraduate, upper-level courses in graphic design and digital media in a variety of delivery modes.
-Teach foundation, design history, and capstone courses.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Maintain active research agenda.
-Service on department, school, and/or university committees.
-Serve as academic advisor for undergraduate students.
-Engage in ongoing professional development.
-Participate in service activities at the department, school, and/or university level.
MFA in Graphic Design, Art, Graphic Art, or Digital Design
Undergraduate teaching experience
Experience in Digital Design, Design Thinking, and Project-Based Learning
Teaching experience in one or more of the following interactive areas: information design IA/IxD/UI/UX, motion graphics, social media, and brand identity.
