Associate Professor or Professor of Dance

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, tenure track faculty position of Chair of the Department of Dance and Associate Professor or Professor of Dance in the Department of Dance that begins July 2020.

The Chair shall provide academic and administrative leadership for the Department. The primary responsibilities of the Chair include, but are not limited to, providing program oversight and advancement; supporting a transparent shared governance environment; managing and allocating resources; establishing and implementing the Department’s strategic plan; managing and developing faculty and staff; teaching; reviewing and managing the Department’s budget; fundraising and working with external advisory boards; leading the Department’s marketing and alumni relations; overseeing student development; communicating with constituents in a respectful and collegial manner; and overseeing program accreditation and assessment.

Desired qualifications include a record of excellence in higher education administration; an established body of peer-reviewed scholarship and/or creative activity at the national and international levels; excellence commensurate with tenure, and appointment to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor; a record of excellence in performance curation; commitment to the artist-scholar model; a record of effective teaching; understanding of and passion for a Bachelor of Arts program that emphasizes the professional practice of dance and dance scholarship within a liberal arts context.

Completion of an earned terminal degree in the field of dance (Ph.D., M.F.A., Ed.D. or foreign equivalent) is required.
