The Department of Theatre at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor (100%) in Voice & Speech beginning Fall 2020. Responsibilities include: providing voice and speech coursework, mentorship, and guidance to theatre students; supporting our active production season by providing voice, text, and dialect coaching for productions; directing one production a year as part of our mainstage season; and providing departmental service and other requisite duties of a tenure-track position.
Essential qualifications: Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance or related field from a regionally accredited university. Two years teaching voice and speech at the university level (graduate school teaching experience accepted) or in the professional theatre field. Demonstration of effective teaching and mentorship. Specific knowledge in one vocal methodology (such as Linklater) but an understanding of other vocal training techniques. Desire and ability to effectively teach and train students of all levels. Evidence of sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, LGBTQ, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students.
