The UCLA Department of Theater invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Directing effective July 1, 2023. 

Candidates should have expertise in directing contemporary performance which may include but is not limited to the following areas: new play development, digital/multimedia theater, social practice, devised theater, musical theater, collaborative creation, Indigenous Performance, Latinx performance, Asian-American performance, African-American performance and/or intercultural performance.  Candidates should also demonstrate a continuing artistic practice, a commitment to higher education and the ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses.  We actively seek candidates who will complement and diversify the Theater Department’s cultural, pedagogical and artistic strength and encourage applications from individuals who identify as members of communities under-represented in the field of theater.

Required: Completed terminal degree or a minimum of 4 years professional experience.
