The Department of Architecture, College of Architecture, at Texas A&M University invites applications for two full-time tenured/tenure-track positions with a 9-month academic appointment beginning fall semester 2025. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of professor, associate professor, or assistant professor, depending on qualifications.

Our department seeks to foster both scholarly excellence and the outstanding professional development of students through mentoring, industry partnerships, and high-impact learning practices. The successful candidate will lead creative or scholarly inquiry with a contemporary focus aligned with areas such as design for health, building technology, design and practice innovation, heritage conservation, or other specialties consistent with the department's resources.

To address the Texas Workforce Market's recognized need to generate licensed architects and meet curricular and professional demands, the department has identified key areas of expertise for design faculty. These include a research focus on 

  • Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence
  • Education (Pedagogies and Facilities)
  • Resilience, Life-Cycle Assessment, Recoverability, and Sustainability
  • Urban Adaptive Reuse
  • Materials/Methods/Structural/Assembly Technologies related to architectural design

Successful candidates will join a dynamic, welcoming, and supportive department committed to shaping the future of architecture and contributing to the public good through innovative research and teaching.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate include conducting original research, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and obtaining and managing funded research projects. The candidate will teach courses in their area of expertise, contribute to masters and doctoral committees, and provide service to the public and architecture professions. Additionally, they will actively participate in the governance and administration of the department.

The Department of Architecture, housed within the College of Architecture, offers four degrees: Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, and PhD in Architecture. The department supports over 760 students and 45 faculty members with extensive facilities and equipment, including laser scanners, digital fabrication and robotics equipment, energy systems monitoring capabilities, daylighting/solar equipment, and archives from practice.

The College of Architecture houses the Department of Architecture, the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, and the Department of Construction Science. Located at the center of the Texas Triangle – an area bounded by the cities of Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Fort Worth – Texas A&M and its surrounding communities are positioned for rapid growth and increasing influence. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A graduate or terminal degree in architecture or a closely related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Professional industry or entrepreneurial experience.
  • Record of interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
  • Record of teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Record of and potential for extramural funding support.
