Opportunity Kent State University is seeking applications for a newly established interdisciplinary faculty position focused on the intersections of textiles with textile art, fashion design, and costume design and technology. The position is designed to foster creative learning opportunities for students in these areas as well as other potential connections across the university.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a terminal degree in textiles or a related field (Ph.D., MFA degree or equivalent) and a strong record of professional involvement in art/design practice. Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years’ full time teaching experience beyond the graduate assistantship as well as demonstrated professional achievement. Those possessing versatility, energy and collegiality and who are enthusiastic about participating in ongoing curricular transformation and innovative evolution of the fields of art and design are particularly sought. Interested applicants should possess experience and committed practice as a textile artist/designer/innovator. Evidence of technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: textile structures (woven, felted, knitted), embellishments, print and dye processes (including natural dyeing), electronic/interactive textiles is required; along with a depth of knowledge of contemporary and historic textiles, theory, sustainability, and community engagement.
