Architecture & Interior Design: Assistant Professor (tenure track) to teach Architecture History and theory related courses with an interdisciplinary design history approach, teach design studio courses, conduct research that leads to publications and/or design projects, advise students, and provide service to the department, division, and institution. Appointment begins August 2024.

The Department of Architecture and Interior Design offers a pre-professional B.A in Architecture, a CIDA-accredited professional B.F.A in Interior Design, a NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture program within a studio-based culture of experiential learning in the College of Creative Arts (CCA). The Department also offers students and faculty the opportunity to engage with the Center for Community Engagement in Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati, and numerous university centers including the Humanities Center, Myaamia Center, and the Miami University Dolibois Center in Luxembourg. Miami University, located within the Cincinnati metro area, is a short driving distance from numerous architectural destinations such as in downtown Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus OH, Columbus IN, Indianapolis, and Chicago. The Department strives to provide students rigorous professional preparation within the context of a nationally recognized liberal arts university. Our students combine Miami University’s liberal arts foundation, arts disciplines, interdisciplinary course work, and studios to uniquely inform design processes, research, and project outcomes. In addition, our students and faculty regularly engage with communities locally and globally. Required: Ph.D in Architectural History and Theory, or closely related field, or DDes by date of appointment.

Consideration may be given to candidates with a and a portfolio of creative achievements with prospective continuation; publication record; a professional degree in architecture or related design field; experience in digital design; architectural or interior design professional licenses; demonstrated interest or experience in innovative studio and seminar-based design teaching; a record of creative/professional practice; proven responsiveness to emerging technologies; human-centered work; socially and environmentally responsible design principles.
