The Department of Dance and the Department of Theater at Hope College seek applicants for a shared tenure track Assistant or Associate professor of Lighting and Sound Design position that will report to campus by August 15, 2019. The successful candidate will hold an MFA/DFA/PhD, and be a recognized instructor/designer qualified to teach Dance Production I, Lighting and Sound Design for Dance and Theatre, Projection Media Design and Technology, as well as teach General Education courses such as introduction or seminar courses. The successful candidate will also design lighting and/or sound for 5-6 dance and theatre productions, call cues for annual faculty-choreographed dance concert, and supervise technical support staff during the academic year. The applicant should have a strong portfolio in lighting and sound design for dance and theatre, with a production history including professional and academic work. Skill in computer drafting, digital audio, and lighting visualization software, and knowledge of programming and operation of the ETC Eos family of lighting control equipment would be advantageous. Individuals with a clear enthusiasm and record of teaching undergraduates in both departmental and general education courses in a liberal arts setting, as well as supervising undergraduates in hang and focusing, are encouraged to apply.
