UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO DENVER
College of Architecture and Planning
Chair and Associate Professor/Professor

The Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver is looking for a leader who enthusiastically supports the department’s mission statement; "to educate students to lead design and planning processes to create health, well-being, and environmental resilience through design in the public realm".

We work on topics in social and environmental justice, equitable and resilient food systems, cultural landscapes, climate change adaptation and resilience, and the rehabilitation of disturbed landscapes. We continuously integrate our teaching, research, and creative practice as we address these topics.

We develop and maintain relationships with government and non-government stakeholders, citizen groups, and professional firms throughout the Denver metropolitan area and Colorado that enrich our educational community. We also provide regular opportunities for students to engage critical issues outside the region and the country.

We value diversity in all its forms, including the various disciplinary and professional backgrounds our students bring to the program. We value the contribution of the widest range of voices to our educational endeavor. We value working across disciplines within the College of Architecture and Planning and across the university.

We seek an energetic leader who can support these priorities and values, is motivated to expand the role landscape architecture can play in response to the political, social, ecological and climate imperatives of our time, and has a solid track record of collaborations across many fields.

We look forward to your application to become the Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver. Please contact the search co-chairs, Jody Beck and Joern Langhorst, with any questions about the position or the department.
