The inaugural chair of the newly-established, autonomous Department of Art Education will bring vision and leadership to a small and vibrant department, further capitalizing on our regional reputation for excellence in undergraduate pre-service teacher education, and our national and international reputation for social justice art education, philosophical thought, transdisciplinary inquiry, arts-based research, and art museum education. The chair will serve as champion for the professional endeavors (scholarship and creative activity) of faculty and students alike. Additional responsibilities will include college and university service, teaching, mentoring, and sustaining relevant professional activities.
The inaugural Chair will report to the Dean and work closely with CVAD’s Associate Deans, their fellow chairs, and the directors of the Foundations Program, CVAD Galleries, Texas Fashion Collection, and Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts and Design, as a part of the college’s leadership team. The Chair will support the college and university’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, access, and inclusion in all academic and personnel matters.
