The Department of Art at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, seeks candidates for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Painting beginning Fall 2019. This is a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.
The candidate should have extensive knowledge of the practice and theory of contemporary painting, and also be comfortable working and thinking across disciplines, with interests that extend beyond their specialization and encompass broad approaches to art practice.
Responsibilities will include teaching (2-2 course load) primarily introductory, intermediate and advanced level studio courses in Painting. Teaching will be focused primarily in the BFA undergraduate program with participation in the MFA program. Teaching may also include arts-related general education and department Foundations program courses.
The candidate’s specific interests in art making and contemporary art will contribute to the breadth and depth of our curriculum. Other responsibilities include participation on departmental and college committees, advising, admissions, student recruitment, final critiques, and other support for the Painting program and the Dept. of Art in general.
