The Department of Art at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York invites applications for a Lecturer (10-month) position. Candidates should be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary art and design environment. The candidate’s pedagogical focus will entail practices of graphic communication for screen and print and give equal weight to formal and conceptual issues.
We seek applications from graphic designers with professional knowledge of the field and an understanding of design history, methodology, and critical issues. Expertise in branding and identity, print design, typography and visual rhetorics, with at least two years of professional or creative activity preferred. Experience in the areas of web design, interaction design, mobile apps and emergent media/hybrid forms is a plus.
The Department of Art has graduate programs at the MA, MFA and PhD levels as well as BFA and BA programs. The candidate is expected to teach 3 courses a semester at the undergraduate level, advise students and contribute to the development of the design curriculum.
