The Theater Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a Costume Shop Manager and Lecturer to join the department’s BS degree program. Responsibilities of the position include teaching one 3-credit costume course each semester; supervising the construction and preparation of all costumes for departmental productions; overseeing all costume design students and construction crews; and costume design of one department production each semester.  Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion and cultural competency in teaching, production, student mentoring, and the profession. This is a 3 year appointment and will begin September 1, 2023.

The Theater Department at Skidmore College is committed to building creative, dynamic, and inclusive processes that celebrate and respect individual differences and diversity, including but not limited to differences of race, national origin, ethnic origin, language, religion, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, marital status, veteran status, legal status, and disability. We are a pre-professional program that offers students the opportunity to pursue the serious study of the theater arts within a liberal arts setting. We seek a colleague excited to contribute to these values.

Candidates should be prepared to teach courses at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels; to mentor students in the areas of candidate’s expertise; and to support the department‘s production season and collective governance.

  • a sample or brief portfolio of design work; and
  • the names and contact information for three references.

Consideration of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. All materials must be submitted through the Skidmore system.

Pay Range:  Commensurate with experience

In order to prevent or significantly reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission at Skidmore College and protect all members of the College community from infection, successful candidates will be required to submit proof of full vaccination as a condition of employment, unless exempted as a reasonable accommodation of a medical condition or sincerely religious belief or practice.
