Boston University’s College of Fine Arts invites applications for the position of Professor and Director of the School of Theatre, non-tenure-track, with an anticipated state date of July 1, 2019.
CFA’s School of Theatre is a prominent beacon for the arts in New England. With accomplished, award-winning alumni (including actors Jason Alexander, Geena Davis, Julianne Moore, Alfre Woodard, and Ginnifer Goodwin); five dedicated theatres, including the stunning state-of-the-art Booth Theatre; 40 faculty who are actively engaged in the profession of theatre-making, CFA’s School of Theatre is widely recognized as one of the premier theatre programs in the nation.
The Director of the School of Theatre oversees the day-to-day administration of the School’s academic units and co-curricular activities (such as CFA’s productions and collaborations with Boston area professional theatres); manages the School’s professional administrative staff; models professional ethics and best practices; and champions initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in the arts.
Reporting to the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, the Director of the School of Theatre collaborates with College leadership in the development and implementation of a forward-looking vision for both the School of Theatre and the College of Fine Arts.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrably active international profile in his or her professional or scholarly theatrical field, as well as an earned terminal degree in that field. A minimum of five years arts administration experience is expected.
