The USF School of Art & Art History features an internationally recognized, three-year interdisciplinary MFA program in addition to degrees in Graphic Design and Art History. With 500 majors and more than 25 fulltime faculty on two campuses (Tampa & St. Petersburg), the School is the visual arts educational hub in a diverse region of more than 3 million residents and boasts multiple outstanding museums, galleries, and cultural venues. With closely linked programs, faculty, and staff, the School and its community are strengthened through partnerships with the USF Contemporary Art Museum and the world-renowned Graphicstudio.

The School of Art and Art History at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa invites applications for a Studio Foundations Coordinator for a 9-month, annual position at Instructor Rank. Appointment to begin August 2022.
An essential position in the School and for the College, with extensive impact on undergraduate majors and non-majors, the ideal candidate will fulfill a critical role in conceptualizing and implementing innovative Foundations courses in Studio Art and Graphic Design with possible linkages to Architecture, Theatre Design and new Design initiatives.
The Studio Foundations Coordinator will be engaged in teaching diverse studio art practices and concepts where topics include Studio Production, Research, Critical Frameworks, and Conceptual Thinking.
The candidate will lead and manage the Foundations Program. Additionally they will teach face-to-face and online courses, develop innovative curriculum, supervise other instructors, manage budget, oversee facilities, and provide program assessment. USF is a consolidated multi-campus university. The candidate will work with faculty in both Tampa and St. Petersburg. The instructor will have the opportunity to work with MFA students in Directed Studies and MFA Final Research Thesis Projects.
Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Successful candidates will have:
• Terminal degree in art and/or design or related or professional experience equivalent
• Knowledge of skills and practices across multiple disciplines
• Experience with teaching.
• Demonstrable experience in academic administration.
Successful candidates will have:
• A creative research record at the national level.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and lead an innovative Foundations Studio program for majors and non-majors
• A history of interdisciplinary program development within institutions and the community
• Two years of demonstrated teaching success
• Experience with strategic planning, budget, facilities, personnel, assessment
