Rate is set in accordance with the City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule for hourly assignments. Currently the rate upon entry is from $85.23 to $93.01 per hour depending upon placement.

The Art Department is one of City College of San Francisco's 59 departments and schedules over 65 credit courses each semester which are offered at 5 locations as well as in online and hybrid formats. Over 25 faculty members teach the disciplines of Art History, Ceramics, Chinese Brush Painting, Design, Drawing, Illustration, Metal Arts, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Watercolor.
This part-time pool requires the ability to instruct beginning to advanced levels of jewelry/metal arts and casting for metal arts using various technologies, materials and working approaches. Instruction will also include image based lectures that cover the historical and contemporary applications of metal arts nationally and globally. The courses can be scheduled as day, evening or weekend courses at the Ocean Campus, 50 Frida Kahlo Way, San Francisco. Instructors contribute to serving more than 1000 students who reflect the rich ethnic and racial diversity, and complex socioeconomic reality of the Bay Area, Art Department faculty and their curriculum support the transformative power of education and the responsibility to identify and serve the needs of our students.
1. Instruct students in all levels of Metal Arts, Jewelry, and Lost Wax Casting.
2. Conduct appropriate lectures and demonstrations as needed to instruct in the technology and art forms of Metals, Jewelry, and Lost Wax Casting.
3. Assign students various activities and projects in accordance with the appropriate class outline and design instructional materials, activities and assessments that promote student learning and achievement.
4. Perform duties associated with instructing and assessing student progress including, but not limited to census, grading, and student learning outcomes.
5. Maintain appropriate records in accordance with the needs of the Metals Arts area, the Art Department and the expectations of the college in general.
6. Demonstrate safe and proper use of machine and hand tools available for student use in the Metal Arts, Jewelry, and Casting studio classroom including the safe and proper use of the centrifugal casting machine.
7. Abide by and enforce college identified safety and hazardous materials protocols.
8. Supervise studio assistants in the maintenance and organization of the studio.
9. Coordinate with Metal Arts area faculty in ordering supplies such as sheet metal, casting grain, investment, waxes and also tools and equipment. Maintain vendor contacts, make orders, and follow up for vendor payment.
10. Routinely communicate with Metal Arts area faculty concerning maintenance of the studio classroom including equipment and work with CCSF Building and Grounds technicians when needed
11. Teach day, evening, and/or Saturday classes as required.
12. Participate in departmental functions, such as committee work, faculty evaluations, staff meetings, gallery work, etc.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

2. Master's in Fine Arts, Art, or Art History
Bachelor's in any of the above
Master's in humanities

(NOTE: ‘'Master's in Fine Arts" as used here refers to any master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the "Master of Fine Arts" (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing or other non-plastic arts.)
1. One or more years of successful teaching experience focused on beginning through advanced Metal Arts.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with a wide range of materials and techniques required for production in Metal Arts, including fabrication, lost wax casting, raising, and forging.
3. One or more years of successful maintenance of a metal arts teaching facility, its equipment, and purchasing of supplies.
4. Demonstrated ability to teach non art-majors.
5. Demonstrated ability to retain students and promote student success.
6. Demonstrated skills to teach large classes via group methods.
7. Demonstration of commitment to current professional involvement in the field of Metal Arts/Jewelry
8. Demonstrated ability to work professionally in a team environment on departmental projects.
