Assistant Professor: DRAMA, History, Literature and Practice - #077300
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY – The Department of Drama, within the College of Visual and Performing Arts, a highly ranked BFA program uniquely integrated with a major regional theater, seeks to hire a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor with primary expertise in drama history, literature, and practice. The department seeks a scholar-practitioner who will reimagine existing course sequences in dramatic history and literature, and work with the faculty to create a comprehensive, inclusive, and global curriculum. Additional expertise in areas such as playwriting, directing, dramaturgy, or acting is highly desirable. The department is actively seeking candidates who value equity and inclusion, who incorporate marginalized voices and perspectives into their pedagogy, and who have experience mentoring students and/or performers of diverse identities. The position will teach courses at all levels within the performance curriculum, serve as an academic and creative advisor, and, depending upon expertise, may coach, direct, and/or serve as dramaturg or playwright for departmental productions. Ph.D. in relevant field (e.g., theater history, dramatic literature, performance studies, dramaturgy) preferred; MFA (including playwriting) considered when accompanied by a record of significant scholarship.
