Faculty - Lecturer - Non Tenure Track (Full-time) - Jazz and Contemporary Performance

Position Category: Faculty - Non Tenure Track (FT)


The Music Department is looking for a one-year lecturer to teach jazz orchestra, jazz combos, jazz/rock theory, jazz improvisation, and other courses assigned by the department. Also assist with commercial music area duties, including auditions and recruiting.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a masters degree or an A.D. (Artist Diploma) in a related performance field required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and methodology of contemporary performance and improvisation in a variety of genres.
  • Proven skills as an accomplished teacher and performer.
  • Skills in recruiting, and placing students.
  • Ability to develop curriculum and teach assigned courses.
  • Ability to engage students in learning and performing opportunities on campus and in the community.
  • Ability to communicate (written and oral) with a wide variety of students, faculty and others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate in jazz performance. Experience teaching jazz performance in higher education.

Physical Requirements:

Work is normally performed in a typical classroom/office work environment.

Pay Range: $45,000 - $47,500
