The University of Virginia’s Department of Drama seeks applicants for the position of Prop Shop Manager. This twelve-month position reports to the Technical Director and manages the budgeting, procurement, and construction of props. Additional responsibilities include supervising staff in the prop shop and supporting projects in the scene shop. The Prop Shop Manager will collaborate on academic-year performances and the summer season of the Virginia Theatre Festival.

A Bachelor’s degree and 1-year of experience in technical theatre are required. Must be able to prioritize and execute tasks accurately. Must have excellent organizational and collaborative skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with and respond to various collaborators. Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret procedures and regulations specific to technical theatre and props management. Must be committed to a safe and equitable work environment. Preferred experience: supervision of student and/or professional staff; budgeting and procurement; carpentry, painting, furniture building and modification, upholstery, crafts and metal work appropriate to props; development of safety documents. 

The expected salary is $23.00 - $24.00 hourly (annualized $48,000 - 50,000) commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a non-exempt, benefitted position.
