The University of North Texas College of Music seeks applicants with an emphasis in instrumental (band) music education and whose teaching and research interests align with the expectations of a Carnegie R1 research university. Teaching duties: assignments will include courses at the undergraduate and graduate level as assigned by the Chair of the Division of Music Education and in accordance with the candidate’s teaching interests and areas of expertise. Research: Maintain a strong, consistent research program that contributes to the discipline in national and international publications/conferences. Service: Recruit outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in music education, and provide service to the College of Music, the University, and the music education profession at-large in ways that align with the interests of the applicant. Other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Division or Dean of the College. The candidate will be expected to build and maintain positive relationships with their UNT colleagues, as well as with P-12 school music teachers and university colleagues in the State of Texas and beyond.
Completed doctorate in Music Education by time of appointment; evidence of an emerging record of scholarship, such as publications, conference presentations, and/or other appropriate professional activity; a minimum of three years of successful teaching with public or private middle school or high school band programs (or equivalent experience); and a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice in music education.
