Position Summary
The person is this position provides the technical expertise required for video production, video graphics, live-stream, and broadcast operations, systems, and configurations.
This position operates and performs maintenance/backup of complex production systems and software configurations. They aid in the development and/or assessment of hardware and software components for video and broadcast production. This position works collaboratively with the team to optimize equipment and software configurations and/or settings.
This position evaluates and supports client needs and requests. This position provides creative and technical guidance, develops concepts, and executes those concepts to meet video, and graphic requirements and performance standards.
The person is this position configures/programs systems and subsystems and develops documentation to support new or modified systems in the areas of video and broadcast production.
This position may provide training and support for other technical staff including students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Creative Expertise
- Performs post-production, editing, and assembly for real-time transmission of broadcast, streaming, and marking video.
- Designs and creates complex graphic, animation graphic content, and sound design, to meet the end user needs while complying with university brand, standards, and legal requirements.
- Works independently to manage, produce, and execute their own projects.
- Supervises the editing of recorded content to ensure that it fulfills time, visual, ethical, and broadcast quality requirements.
- Engages in a pivotal and professional role in the success of the operational projects.
- Clarifies the technical and artistic direction with internal stakeholders and clients involved with the projects.
Video Production Expertise
- Designs, test and/or modifies complex technology solutions to meet university requirements related to various transmission services.
- Develops specialized configurations and programs for advanced recording and editing solutions.
- Develops and/or captures video and audio during production.
- Responsible for providing technical expertise for video and broadcast systems, computerized graphics generation and/or programming.
- Reviews solutions and content with end users and ensures requirements are met.
- Utilizes post-production applications and software for video and/or soundtrack editing, as well as encoding and compressing.
Collaboration
- Provides guidance and consulting, meets with clients, develop concepts, and execute them to meet both video and graphic standards.
- Facilitates the exchange of information between customers and team members.
- Serves as the specialist in charge of organizing and executing all aspects of a video project at each stage, beginning from pre-production, and ending with post-production.
Network Understanding
- Understands network wiring, cabling, and routing as related to the areas of responsibility.
- Performs installation of servers, computers, and/or peripheral equipment on the network.
- Monitors security protocols associated with restricted access systems.
Supervision
- May be called upon to provide supervision of other lesser skilled staff or act as team leader on designated projects.
- Monitors the progress and direction of assigned tasks and makes corrections as needed.
Policy/Procedure Development
- Maintains and supports assigned systems with documented testing and development of procedures to minimize downtime and loss of service continuity.
- Evaluates and supplements vendor supplied documentation for third party solutions.

Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
- Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field to the position.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, video production, or a closely related professional area.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional experience with character generators, video switchers, broadcasting video display systems such as Daktronics, and Adobe Creative Suite/Adobe products and digital video editing software.
NOTE: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
