Lecturer position (fixed term) in Nordic Master in Visual Studies and Art Education

Overview: We are looking for a lecturer with a vision of the future of art fields and art-related occupations, specifically focusing on developing new professional opportunities for creative professionals with pedagogical skills. We are looking for a person with a keen interest in the new and developing relationship between art, education, and visual studies. In this position you will have a chance to make an impact on students who are studying and developing new ways to think about the interconnections between art, work, and life. The position will begin in fall  2023 and is fixed term until 31 December 2025.

Responsibilities: The lecturer will be working for Nordic Master in Visual Studies and Art Education (NoVA) double-degree MA program that Aalto University runs together with Aalborg University, Denmark. This position advances society's broader need of arts-related professions by engaging cohorts of international students through leadership, administration, teaching, and student supervision. The lecturer is expected to work with different audiences, institutions, and communities, including international professionals, practitioners, and researchers especially in the Nordic region. The main pedagogical objective of this position is to provide students with a mix of problem-based and student-centred, hands-on experience with theoretical and practical studies in art, education, digital communication, and project management. The position also involves research related to the content and pedagogical practices of the program.

Requirements
The position requires strong academic and leadership skills in art education or closely related field(s), as well as curriculum development and teaching expertise (including in-person, online, and hybrid). In addition, proficiency in working with multiple stakeholders is required. Since the position might involve research work, a doctoral degree is regarded as a merit. Proficiency in Finnish and/or other Nordic languages, and experience working with Nordic institutions and stakeholders may be beneficial but is not a requirement. The position requires the candidate to live in Finland.

The salary is determined based on experience and qualifications according to the salary system of Aalto University. The position is located in Otaniemi, Espoo in the School of ARTS.
