The SMFA at Tufts University Print & Paper area is seeking a Part Time Lecturer for a one-semester appointment for Fall 2023.
The successful candidate will teach PRT-0174 Relief Print. This course serves as a comprehensive introduction to relief printmaking processes. Traditional woodcut methods such as single-color, reductive, and multi-block printing provide a foundation for experimental approaches. Demonstrations involve laser-engraved matrices, pressure monotype, chine collé, blind embossing, and the modular matrix. Students are encouraged to work at a large scale and to explore both traditional and non-traditional substrates.
The course is scheduled to meet Fridays from 9am to 3pm. The first day of classes will be September 5, 2023.
The instructor will also serve on end-of-semester review boards and provide feedback to students working in all media.
Qualifications
An MFA in Printmaking or a related field is required. Additional qualifications include prior teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicant must demonstrate excellence in scholarship, research, and lecturing, and have an active exhibition record. Applicant should be able to lead in-class discussions of artistic examples and assigned readings, engage with diverse students, and create an inclusive class environment.
