Position Details
The Department of Theatre and Dance within the College of Arts & Letters at The University of Tampa is seeking a candidate for a full-time tenure track appointment, at the rank of Assistant Professor of Theatre to begin August 2024.
The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UT reflects this vibrancy; with 24 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 260 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and more than 100 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News and World Report.
A terminal degree (Ph.D.) is preferred, however, an MFA with prior teaching experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to liberal arts education.
Responsibilities include-but are not limited to-the teaching of undergraduate courses in Introduction to Theatre, Theatre Improvisation, Movement for the Actor, Acting (beginning to advanced methods), Voice and Diction, Oral Performance of Literature, as well as an possibility to direct a theatre production. Additional experience with Theatre Survey/History coursework, and Play Analysis is desirable. The University of Tampa offers BA degrees in Theatre and a BFA in Musical Theatre, as well as minors in Speech/Theatre, Dance/Theatre and Dance. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
