What You'll Do

The Director Children’s Theatre/Theatre Manager in the Department of Drama and Dance oversees all box office and house operations for the Balch Arena Theatre during the academic year, including 3 faculty-directed productions per year and up to forty student-directed productions per year.  The Director will perform the following duties:

  • Manage ticket sales for performances staged in Balch Arena Theater.
  • Direct the university’s year-long children’s theater program that serves hundreds of students in the local community, including approximately 150 students who participate in the summer Magic Circle and Creative Arts summer theatre programs. 


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a Bachelor's in Theatre, Education, or an adjacent field, as well as equivalent work experience in theatre arts education, program development, or working with youth, families and schools
  • 5 years' experience in theatre management, staff and house management
  • 5 years' experience with Educational Theatre Programs
  • Experience with budgeting, marketing, box office software, health and safety protocols
  • Experience in curriculum design and arts education; budgeting, health and safety protocols, background and safety checks
  • Experience managing and training staff, developing budgets, and financial management

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

This is a hybrid role and is expected to be on campus for events and to support the theatre and summer theatre program, and may need to work outside of normal business hours.
