The Department of Theatre at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor (Acting/Movement) to begin August 2020. Candidates with terminal degrees are strongly preferred, but those with equivalent professional experience may also be considered. We seek candidates with a demonstrated ability to teach MFA and BFA stage combat, movement, and related acting courses. Applicants should be Certified Teachers with the S.A.F.D., possess expertise in teaching body dynamics and physical expressiveness, have potential for developing a 21st century movement curriculum that is inclusive of all bodies and abilities. Desired additional training may include (but is not limited to): Alexander Technique, Clowning, Feldenkrais, Intimacy, Laban, Lecoq, Michael Chekhov, Motion Capture, Suzuki, Viewpoints, and/or other movement expertise. Duties include a teaching load of generally 2 classes/semester as well as committee work, advising, and (as appropriate) coaching or directing in support of the departmental curriculum and mission. Applicants should have a record of professional movement directing, acting, directing or other practice-based arts research commensurate with an appointment to and indicative of current or future tenure and promotion at a Tier I Research Institution.

This position is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-system faculty appointment with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2020. Salary is commensurate with experience.
