The University of Southern Maine’s Art Department invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track faculty appointment in the area of Painting and Drawing to begin August 2019.
The successful candidate will teach a 3:3 load of undergraduate level courses in both the BA and BFA programs, advise undergraduate students, and serve on Department and University committees. A fully engaged presence on campus is required as well as a willingness to actively participate in collectively shaping the future of the Painting and Drawing concentration and Art Department.

Candidates must hold an MFA
or equivalent degree. Knowledge of painting and its role in contemporary visual art and culture, professional understanding of art related theory and criticism and an active professional creative practice that may include a record of projects, exhibitions, and presentations. The ability to address work across disciplines is also desired, as our students often push disciplinary boundaries. A minimum of 3 years college-level teaching and experience advising undergraduate students is preferred.
Salary is $55,000
