Job Opening #24961, Visiting Instructor I – Theatre Theory: The successful candidate will teach theatre history, theory and literature in a wide variety of courses required for theatre majors. Teach 3-4 undergraduate courses each semester along with committee service.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorial degree from an accredited institution. Two years demonstrated record of achievement in teaching at the University level. Preferred Qualifications: Secondary specialty in performance, criticism or playwriting. History of publication and/or artistic practice.

Job Opening #25049, Visiting Instructor I – Scenic Design: The successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for the scenic design, scenic painting and the acquisition of props for School of Theatre & Dance productions. Duties will include 4 production and/or teaching assignments per semester. The designer works closely on production schedule and logistics with the technical director, scene shop supervisor, design faculty, directors and the College of The Arts Director of Events and Production Services. Courses taught may include CAD and Drafting for Theatre, Intro to Design I, Scenic Design, Architecture and Decor, Scenic Painting, Props or a secondary design area course. Hands-on supervision and mentoring of student designers and technicians in a BA theatre design program expected.

Minimum Qualifications: MFA in Theatre Design OR extensive professional experience in Scenic Design/Technology, proven ability to teach courses in Introductory and Advanced Scenic Design; Proficiency in Computer Assisted Drafting for Theatre model making; Demonstrated knowledge and skills in current practices of scenic design, scenic painting and stage properties. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in scenic design, University teaching and professional experience; Experience working with Projection Design, ability to supervise undergraduate student crews; Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Vectorworks, SketchUp or similar.
